When I was a young child eagerly awaiting the arrival of Christmas, I’d go to bed dreaming about what Santa Claus would bring me. Each year he magically knew what I wanted and delivered it under the tree.
As adults, sometimes we lose touch with our dreams. Or, we go after them in unproductive ways like being on a career path that steers us in another direction.
When I advise people on owning franchises, I reconnect them to their dreams. I ask what do they really want from owning a business. They are to explain how owning a business will turn their dreams into reality. Naturally, if it won’t help them live their dreams, it doesn’t make much sense to pursue entrepreneurship.
If the person or the couple has children, the dream is always to have the freedom and the flexibility to be present for their children while they are still home. These people want to afford and live a family-friendly lifestyle.
Time together is the gift they want to give their children – during the holidays and always.
And truthfully, that is the best gift, isn’t it?
